REFRACTORY CHROMITE SAND

Refractory Chromite Sand is mainly used in chrome-magnesia or magnesia-chrome bricks. Chrome ore can overcome the typical disadvantages of magnesia (shrinking tendency and high-temperature coefficient). The high chromium content of typical 48% Cr2O3 and low silica of typical 0,9% SiO2, coarse sizing, and high Cr/Fe ratio of close to 2:1 makes our refractory grade appreciated worldwide. We supplying refractory grades chromite of South African origin with the following characteristics: high refractoriness, high thermal conductivity, coarse sizing, varying from AFS 30 to AFS 45. Refractory grades can be shipped loose in bulk or packed in big bags, in both FCL’s and bulk carrier loads, depending on the customer’s requirements.

Brief Introduction of Refractory Chromite Sand

Refractory chromite sand is a naturally occurring spinel consisting primarily of chrome and iron oxides, processed by crushing and sieving. The main chemical composition of chromite sand is Cr2O3, which heat volume stability, high heat conductivity. When chromite sand contact with the molten metal doesn’t react with iron oxide and other chemical reactions, chromite sand has solid-phase sintering characteristics. It can well prevent infiltration of molten metal.

Application of Refractory Chromite Sand:
Chromite sand is mainly used for large-scale steel casting surface sand to prevent casting surface sticky sand; it can also be used to cast a coating refractory aggregate; It applies to casting coating and ceramics and glass, metallurgical melting, and other fields.

  1. Chromite sand (rich one/concentrate ) is used for casting ferrochrome.
  2. In the refractory material industry, chromite sand is used for making magnesite-chrome brick, chrome brick, chrome alumina brick, etc.
  3. In the chemical industry, chromite sand is often used for making dichromate.
  4. Cast stone grade chromite sand requirement: producing diabase cast stone, Cr2O3:10%-20%, SiO2.
